S.C.A.R. Group — Website FAQ
Straight answers, before you spend a dollar.
What we do, what we don’t, what it costs, and how your records are handled — in plain language. If your question isn’t here, ask us directly.
About the Service
- What does S.C.A.R. Group actually do?
- We’re an educational, self-service platform that helps veterans organize and prepare their VA disability claim — gathering your records, building your evidence, and preparing your forms in one place. Think of it as a guided path through paperwork that’s normally confusing and scattered across a dozen different systems.
- Are you a law firm or a VA-accredited claims agent?
- No. S.C.A.R. Group is a non-accredited educational platform. We don’t represent you before the VA, and we don’t give legal or medical advice. You review, sign, and submit your own claim — we make that process clearer and less overwhelming to do on your own.
- Why isn’t S.C.A.R. Group VA-accredited?
- Being non-accredited is what lets us charge a simple flat fee instead of the contingency-fee model accredited representatives typically use. You’re always in control of your own claim, and you’re never paying us a cut of your benefits.
How It Works
- What’s the actual process once I sign up?
- You’ll get a welcome email, sign in with your temporary password and an authenticator app, upload whatever records and prior decision letters you have, and then meet with an advisor who walks through your specific situation and the pathways available to you. From there, we help you prepare your forms — you review and sign them in your portal, then submit them yourself on VA.gov, which is where you’ll need an ID.me account.
- How long does the process take?
- It depends on your situation — how many conditions you’re filing for, how much documentation you already have, and how quickly the VA processes your claim once it’s submitted. We can’t control VA processing times, but we can help make sure your submission is as complete and well-organized as possible going in.
Pricing
- How much does this cost?
- One flat fee of $750, paid once — not a percentage of your benefits, and not an ongoing subscription.
- Are there any hidden fees?
- No. The flat fee is the flat fee. If your situation changes and you need something outside the original scope, we’ll always tell you before anything changes.
Eligibility & Fit
- Do I need to already have a VA disability rating to use S.C.A.R. Group?
- No — we work with veterans filing their first claim, requesting a rating increase, or pursuing a supplemental claim or appeal.
- Does my discharge status affect whether I can use this service?
- It may affect your eligibility for certain VA benefits themselves, which is something your advisor can walk through with you. It doesn’t affect your ability to use our platform to organize your paperwork.
- I’m not sure if I have a strong case. Can you tell me if I’ll get approved?
- No one can promise a specific outcome — including us. What we can do is help make sure your claim is as complete and well-supported as possible before it goes in, since incomplete evidence is one of the most common reasons claims get delayed or denied.
Privacy & Security
- Is my information safe?
- Yes. Your data is encrypted end-to-end, and your records stay yours — we don’t sell or share your information.
- Who can see my documents?
- Only you and your assigned advisor have access to the records and forms you upload.
Support
- What if I get stuck or have questions during the process?
- Reach out through your portal any time — we’re a small, family-run team, and we’re with you from the start of your claim through your decision.
- What happens after I submit my claim?
- Submission is just one step — you can track your claim status directly with the VA, and your S.C.A.R. Group portal keeps a record of everything you generated and submitted along the way.
Disclosure: S.C.A.R. Group LLC is not VA-accredited. This is a platform access fee for educational tools only — not legal representation. Free claims assistance is available through the DAV, VFW, and American Legion. See our disclosures for the full detail.
